Having been a Security Director for a national critical infrastructure, City Police Officer and now a national recognized expert in violence prevention,Hector Alvarez has built over 25 years of experience helping keep organizations safe. Mr. Alvarez now has the privilege and honor of working full-time with organizations to build safer communities through security assessments, training sessions and behavioral threat assessments. Mr. Alvarez established one of the nation’s most progressive “civilian focused” active shooter prevention programs; highly trained armed guards, force option simulators, safe rooms, threat assessment teams and regular training for employees. He has personally evaluated and managed hundreds of potentially violent situations, developed numerous violence prevention programs and trained thousands of security officers, employees and managers in workplace violence prevention.
He understands the challenges communities face addressing the threat of violence because he has lived them. He has also witnessed the collapse of civil order first- hand as responder to both the Loma Prieta Earthquake and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Twice he has been named “Reserve Officer of the Year” by the Folsom Police Department. He has contributed to several books and has studied, written and been published extensively on the issue of workplace violence prevention.
